V. Smile Motion Active Learning System by Vtech Review {Here Comes Santa Giveaway}
In this day and age, kids are all about video games. What I–and all moms–don’t want is a child that sits in front of the TV zoned out playing frivolous video games that neither teach or get kids moving. That’s why it is really important to introduce kids to active gaming systems that help them learn important concepts and skills. One great option is the V. Smile Motion Active Learning System, an award winning interactive educational gaming system by VTech.

The V.Motion works two ways: either using the controller as just a regular controller by using the joystick and button or by moving the controller back and forth to make the action happen onscreen. The games provide kids with the right amount of action to keep them entertained and engaged while still teaching concepts and skills like letters, spelling, math, coordination, and a lot more.

The system comes with Action Mania, a sports and racing game. Lucas’ has really enjoyed playing this game–especially the Street Racing activity that makes the player finish the spelling of a word to earn points and continue the race. This game has been a lot of fun for Lucas who is only 2+ years old, but older kids may find it a bit slow. That’s not really a problem though since the real fun comes with the games that you can buy separately.

The system will actually work with Vtechs entire V.Smile Smartridge library. There are so many available games for different age groups and feature all your kids’ favorite characters like Dora, Spiderman, Pixar characters, and many more.

We actually went out on Black Friday and bought Lucas the Wonder Pets video game. He loves Ming Ming (the duck, for those that don’t know) so this game has been a real hit with him and I love that he’s learning while he’s having fun. The truth is that because Lucas is still young for this gaming system, he hasn’t quite figured out how to use the motion part of the controller, but he is starting to learn how to use the controller the traditional way. We’ll progress to the motion option soon I’m sure!

What I can tell you for sure is that he LOVES playing! The video below is of the kiddo having some fun with the V. Smile Motion. Keep in mind–it is only his second time playing!
The system also comes with a USB device called the VLink that allows you to link up to your computer so that you can access web connect features like bonus gameplay downloads. There is even an online family community called Club VTech, where kids and parents can connect online and participate in a family-centered learning community.

The system even has a 2 player feature so that you can add an extra controller for kids to take the fun to the next level by playing with their friends and siblings. The V Motion runs off of batteries, which is great for travel–your kids can play in the car! It also has a connection to hook up an ac adapter, but it doesn’t come with the actual cord. Since this is a gaming system that kids will likely play often and batteries are expensive, it is probably a wise choice to buy an ac adapter to save money on batteries. All in all, the V Motion really impressed me and both Lucas and I look forward to several years of learning fun with this gaming system!

Want It: V.Smile Motion™ Active Learning System is recommended for ages 3-7 years. MSRP is $59.99, but look for sales. I saw it on Black Friday for $30!
